Dreamweaver/Visual C++ Runtime Library error & crash

I have the same problem that was asked here:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_21031397.html

The only difference is that I'm using Dreamweaver CS3.

In a nutshell, I use dreamweaver to edit webpages. I have been using dreamweaver on the machine in question for some time. But today, when I launched dreamweaver, I get the following error:

-----
Runtime Error!

Program: C...

This application has requested that the Runtime terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
------

The title on the title bar says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". After I click "OK", the dialog closes, but Dreamweaver is crashed. I have to force-close it from the Task Manager.

One last note: This error doesn't seem to be connected to any particular file. i.e. it occurs whenever I open Dreamweaver, regardless of whether I launch it from a link or launch it by opening a file.

Try opening Dial-a-fix (http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix#Mirrors.2Fdownload_locations.2C_and_articles), click all checkboxes under the "Registration center" section and click "GO". Maybe also uninstall/reinstall Flash/Java.

Also, scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php) just in case.

Tried Dial-a-fix. It worked well until it tried to register mmcndmgr.dll...then it crashed. I waited for about 30 minutes (to see if it was going anywhere...it wasn't), and then I had to restart my computer because even force-closing dial-a-fix was doing nothing.

Malware/Trojan/Worm/Virus scans all came up negative.

Another thing: only Dreamweaver seems to be affected. I can still use Flash and Photoshop without problem.

Have you tried made any progress? Also, uninstall CS3 with http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html and reinstall it.

The error means that either Dreamweaver itself has a bug and calls a runtime function of Visual C++ with a bad pointer or it calls a dll function which has a bug or the versions of dreamwaver and one of its dlls do not fit together.

If you worked some time with Dreamweaver and have not made fundamental changes of your environment (e. g. a new graphic card or RAID array) it is unlikely that you suddenly run into a bug of DreamWeaver (but not impossible, e. g. if a license has expired and the bug was to handle that). More likely is that one of the dlls DreamWeaver was using was updated by you or by some other application setup, e. g. an older version of the msvcrt.dll was copied to your system32 folder.

OK.

No recent hardware changes.

No recent Windows updates.

It's possible that I installed software, but I don't think I installed anything directly before this problem began.

Is there anything I can do, short of a full reinstall? Reinstall is possible, but the paperwork required for me to get the discs and CDkey for our corporate license is just unbelievable, so I'd like to exhaust every other option first =P

Thanks,

After all sorts of paperwork, I was finally able to reinstall and now it works great.
