How do I resolve Update Services errors in SBS with error codes 10022 & 10032?

Everyday I get my Server Performance Report and under Critical Errors in Application Log, I get the following two errors:
Source                                                Event ID Last Occurrence        Total Occurrences
  Windows Server Update Services   10022     2/10/2009 2:38 AM       4 *
The last catalog synchronization attempt was unsuccessful.

  Windows Server Update Services      10032       2/10/2009 2:38 AM        4 *
The server is failing to download some updates.
-----------
Synchronization did not finish successfully. Next synchronization: Today at 10:00 PM. Synchronize Now.
There are 1 computer(s) that have not contacted Update Services in 7 days.
For more information, click More Information, and then in the Troubleshooting section click Common Problems.
yadira01
the Yadira01 computer was corrupted and it had to be reformatted and Windows re-installled.
That is no longer the name of the computer.  Am I suppose to delete it from the Server Management, Client Computers, Remove Computer from NEtwork?
How can I fix the above two error messages?

You need to delete it from the directory, Id remove it completely using ADSIedit.

from there DO I navigate to CN=Computers then CN=Yguerra01?
from there what do I do?
Do I also have to delete it from the Server Management?
Personally I would just drill down through the AD in the obvious computer locations and delete any reference to it you find. You could do a saerch in ADUC for it first but it might not help.
plug1,

I did as suggested but I still get the error messages.
I gave it two days to see what happens, but nothing did.
What else can be done?
When ever I get me daily report from SBS, I get the following as well (I say this b/c I do not know if it is related):
Update Services
Status

yadira01
There are updates with installation errors.
There are updates scheduled for installation. If you have chosen the "Download updates, and notify the user that updates are ready to be installed" option, manual intervention is required.

How do you do the last sentence of the message?
plug1,

When I did as you requested, the name of the PC was only listed in one location.
Are there others that I have missed someplace else?
You need to delete yadira01 from the Window Update services control panel, check all of the computers listed find and delte it from there.

The last sentence is just telling you that if your clients are set this way then they will have to manually install the updates, you can check this under group policy.
How do I go about doing it?
I am in the server management-->update services
All I see is i the pane is the following attachment.
server-mngt.doc
OK mate instead of looking in the server management console you need to go to Start, Programs, Administrative Tools and then look for WIndows Update Server Services, this should open up its own console with alot more options.
OK.
I went to it and went to:
server-->computers-->all computers-->Update Services Client Computers.
I highlighted the computer and selected delete.
Is there anything else I should do?
No, that should be you. The sync error can be ignored unless you want to do a manual synchronisation from the control panel to check that it is actually doing it.
How do I force the updates to take into affect?
The computers are not be notified of the updates, neither is the server updates.
This is the screen I am looking at (see attachment)
server-mngt2.doc
It looks like as the error says the downloads havent finished properly. Try a manual download, or a syncronisation  the option should be on the mail screen. Click on SVR-Bleeding at the left.
I went to synchronizations page and clicked on synchroniz now and the result was failed.
Where is the mail screen?
Sorry I meant Main screen. Is your server behind a proxy server, are you runing ISA server on that box? Can you browse the web from the server? You need to find out why the downloads are failing.
I do not have a ISA Server.
What do you mean by a proxy server?
Yes, I can access the web from the server.
I need help in finding why the downloads are failing, that is why I am posting.
I need help.
I have a Cisco firewall.
Can you download any other big files from the web? A proxy server is a server tha caches your internet browsing to speed it up and secure it. You probably dont have one. The cisco is fine ignore that, how are you for disk space on the server?
Yes, I can download big files from the internet.
No, I do not have a proxy server.
I have enough disk space.
ok.. well we need to get into the Update services logs and see whats happening here..

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693878.aspx

Im off home for now mate, I'll try and look in later on..
ok.
thank you.
enjoy the rest of your day.
Post agin tomorrow and I'll get a reminder email.. let me know how you get on..
plug1,

Hope al was well this weekend.
What should I be looking for and which log should I look for & where?
If its still erroring out then you need to look in %ProgramFiles%\Update Services\Log Files\ at the log files in there to determine why they downloads are failing.
plug1,

I went  to the path you informed me about.
I copied the data related to the date of the 26th of this month(Feb).
The name of the file was Software Distribution.log

What is next I am unable to install the updates or see them on each pc/server.
Are the pc's connecting tot he update server? I.E are they listed in the console? If they are and thats all working then its simply a matetr of approving the installs you want the pc's to install from the console on the server.
how can I check if they are connecting to the update server?

where and which console I check to see if they are liested?
plug1,

Attached is a word document with two print screens of what I see on both my email report and server.
How do I manually intervene to install the updates.?
Everyday I get the same report, we have not had any updates for a long time.
What can be done?
They're not attached mate. You need to open the WSUS control panel from administrative tools and approve your updates from there also you need to set up an auto approve list so that you dont have to manually do it.

Id have a look here mate I think your strugging with the basics.

Once I get the latest WSUS installed, will I still get those pesky error messages on my report?
If so how can I get rid of that error message from popping up?
It will be unnoying to see it all the time?
Is there anything I need to know before I uninstall WSUS and reinstall it?
plug1,

Is there anything I need to know before I uninstall WSUS and reinstall it?
I cannot find the link to download the latest WSUS.
Can I get the link?
i found the download it was by a different name.
plug1,

Is there anything I need to know before I uninstall WSUS and reinstall it?
No, with any luck you can just use add/remove programs and take it off completely, reove anything it asks you to and reboot then start from scratch.
ok.
will do tomorrow.
How do I know if I have a proxy server?
You would have to type it into your internet explorer connection settings to browse the web, if you dont need to do that then you dont have one.
ohh, I know what you are talking about.  It has the proxy server and the port # it uses.
I guess I do not have a proxy server.

I tried to uninstall WSUS but it told me if I uninstall it, some programs might not work correctly.
Do you know which programs they are referring to?
Is it Exchange?
Have you ever uninstalled WSUS before?
I have uninstalled it before, I wouldnt worry about that just make sure you have a full backup in case. Rememebr your putting it straight back on again so any programs relying on it will be sorted.
I reinstalled WSUS as suggested.
We just noticed that some of our network drives do not work.
I tried to disconnect them to retry to connect them again but that did not work.
attached is a copy of the error message.
I checked the settings for the drive and they are the same.
How can I fix this?

I would close this question down and assign the points and then start a new one, point me in the direction of the new one and I'll try and answer it there.

cheers
I will close the question.
thanks..
