how connect brocade 250 silkworm via console/serial?

Hello,

There is a serial connection on the front of my new Silkworm 250s but when attempting to connect via Hterminal, I get nothing and Hypterminal hangs. I have used this laptop to set up other Brocades (5000s).

Is there a default address scheme I could set my laptop to and then hop on via Ethernet or am I missing something in the serial config? 8/1/none/9600.

Thx,

C

Your settings are correct - 9600, 8 bits, 1 stop, no parity. no flow control. Are you sure you have the right cable? One test is to power-cycle the switch - if you see POST messages, then you definitely have the correct cable. You need a straight-through cable with pins 2, 3 and 5 connected. The 5000 series uses an RJ45 to DP9 cable - similar to a Cisco console cable (although I don't know if they are the same), so that may be your problem if you are using the same cable.
