Is there anyway Microsoft could have possibly made their 07 office products more cumbersome to use?.......I use powerpoint constantly and in the 03 version I could draw a line and then simply right click on the line and choose, edit points.  From there I could fine tune the length of the line to exactly what I needed.  Microsoft obviously must have felt that was far to simple, so they've taken away that option.  I've looked everywhere online for a way to do this and the closest I came was to to go to drawing tools, format and then choose the edit shape icon.  Only problem is that the edit shape is grayed out and won't function.  How the hell do I edit the points of the line like you used to be able to do in 03????  thx!

In that same place, convert to freeform, then you can edit points.

I looked all over the toolbar in drawing tools > format and I see absolutely nothing called, convert to freeform.

It's in the drawing tools, format and then choose the edit shape icon. Convert to Freeform is under there. Sorry, you said you'd been there, so I didn't think it was a stretch.

I mentioned in my original question that I CANNOT click on the edit shape icon.  Start a slide, insert shape, line, drawing tools, format and guess what, it won't let you select the edit shape icon.  I have tried this on two pc's now just to make sure it's not some kind of weird glitch with my powerpoint.

I apologize, i misread. Have you selected the shape? You must have it selected, otherwise Edit Shape will be greyed out.

Yes.  Are you trying this yourself in powerpoint 07 as we type?

Yes, I am. It works fine here.

What type of shape are you trying to edit points on?

....Start a slide, insert shape, line, drawing tools, format .....

Ahhhh. Try almost anything other than a line. Draw a freeform (it's called Freeform in the tool tip when you hover over it in the shapes gallery) if you need to be able to do a straight line and edit points. Apparently a line can only have two points....

Ok, that works.  Man, what a pain-in-the butt.  I wonder who the moron was in that part of the project that made the executive decision to come up with this process.  thx.
