Adding an additional Domain controller to windows 2003 AD

Hi I have got 3 existing Domain controllers in our domain & I am trying to add another Domain controller for our DR facility which is in another location.

When i try to add the additional Domain controller i get an error stating that "The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer"

I used the Windows 2003 server  R2 cd and ran the adprep /forestprep & /domainprep on the schema Master & Infrastructure master

adprep /forestprep

ADPREP WARNING:

Before running adprep, all Windows 2000 domain controllers in the forest should
be upgraded to Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) with QFE 265089, or to Windows
2000 SP2 (or later).

QFE 265089 (included in Windows 2000 SP2 and later) is required to prevent poten
tial domain controller corruption.

For more information about preparing your forest and domain see KB article Q3311
61 at http://support.microsoft.com.

[User Action]
If ALL your existing Windows 2000 domain controllers meet this requirement, type
C and then press ENTER to continue. Otherwise, type any other key and press ENT
ER to quit.

The new cross domain planning functionality for Group Policy, RSOP Planning
Mode, requires file system and Active Directory permissions to be updated
for existing Group Policy Objects (GPOs). You can enable this functionality
at any time by running "adprep.exe /domainprep /gpprep" on the DC that holds
the infrastructure operations master role.
This operation will cause all GPOs located in the policies folder of the
SYSVOL to be replicated once between the domain controllers in this domain.
Microsoft recommends reading KB Q324392, particularly if you have a large
number of Group policy Objects.

After this done I tried using dcpromo on the new DR server to add as an additional DC but still getting an error "The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer"

Please help me out.

I resolved this issue by installing windows 2003 server with SP1 & then after adding to the domain, I did install SP2. Issue has been resolved.

Did you *exactly* follow the description in the article I linked above? If so, what are the results when you run the version verification as described in this article?

NeelSeshanAuthor Commented:
Yep I followed the same but when i check the version it still shows as 30 showing on the registry its showing as Windows 2003 sp1 Schema.

I am very sure I am running the windows 2003 R2 version of adprep from the 2nd cd, not sure why is it still showing the same version.

Please send me (or) let me know where I can download the adprep.exe for this version if any available.

Open a command prompt on your DC with the Schema Master role.
Put the second CD in, and enter the following commands in the command prompt (replace only the X: with the drive letter of the ):

cd /d X:\CMPNENTS\R2\ADPREP
dir

This should return probably 23 files, see the list below.

Now enter
adprep.exe /forestprep

That's from a CD with SP2 already slipstreamed (and they're not from an English version anyway); if yours is SP1, it might be different, I don't have an SP1 to compare it with.
I suggest you compare with original from corporate.
