Microsoft Virtual Server Error 1075

Installed Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Standard Edition on Windows XP Professional SP3, getting error "1075:  The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion" when trying to restart Virtual Server service.

    First, check out this KB and make sure that you have the update installed:

    Other than that you can Change the account that the service logs in as to local system account (default is networkservice) and see if that solves the issue.

    Do you have a deleteflag in the following location in the registry: HKLM\system\Current control set\services\vmm ? Also in that location is the key "Start" value set to 2? 4? it should be 2. Also, do you have any DCOM errors in the event logs?

    Sometimes this error requires a reinstall of Virtual Server 2005 (make sure that you are using R2 SP1 with the above KB).

    Thanks.....Once I upgraded to SP1 I was good to go as the current version of Virtual Server I had did not work on XP SP3.
