how to access list which is on another site in a lookup control
e.g. I have a list of Projects in SharePoint called as "Projects" and list contains following columns:
1. Project Name
2. Project Manager
3. Status

Now on another site I want to create list named "Project Timelines" where one of the fields in this list would be the name of the Project from the "Projects" list.
Is it possible to have a drop down on "Project Timelines" that points to the "Project Name" field from the "Projects" List?

    Accepted Solution

There is no out of the box feature or functioality to lookup column from another site, the workaround is to either use the Dataview webpart with the SharePoint designer or go for a custom webpart and retrieve the values using the SharePoint Object Model.
