RDP hanging on blue login screen after login

Hi all,
we are getting a blue screen on the rdp connection after we enter our login creds. this is the standard "loading your desktop" blue screen. It hangs on this screen for about an hour and then only shows the desktop. it does the same on logoff. The server is used as a citrix metraframe server. It has 30% free drive space and 4 gb of ram. we have tried the color import for the registry, did not help. all of the latest service packs and patches have been loaded. it does this for any user loging into the server. if you login via the RIB (ilo) card it works fine as well as loging in localy.

Open up msconfig and see if there are some startup processes that don't need to be run.

You need Process Monitor to figure out what is hanging on startup and shutdown.

Did you run a check disk yet
go to command prompt and type
chkdsk /f /r
Restart your computer
It may take a few hours so you might wanna do it after hours.

If it still has the same problem I would be performing a WINDOWS REPAIR

No problems on check disk, ran process monitor, no stuck processes. just a ton of them. not sure what should and should not be there.

Commented:
1. Open up MSCONFIG
2. Disable all the startup options. Yes EVERYTHING.
3. Restart Server.
4. Once the server boots up check msconfig again. Windows would have automatically put a tick next to the startup items that it needs to have during startup.
5. Now try remote into the server. Also make sure you have the latest version of RDP client 6.0
6. If you can login fine now. Try enabling the startup items one by one to see which one was causing that error.
Hi all,
found the problem. 3x entries for fonts in the registry, repaired this and also found that the fonts folder was corrupt. Replaced the fonts folder and teh server now takes about 20 seconds to log in to RDP. Thanks for all of teh advice, much apreciated.
