Hi rammaghentharji,
nice to meet you again.

Your problem seems to be the result of a former abnormal termination of some NIM operation on nimclientname02.

Please do the following:

1)
Perform a NIM reset of nimclientname02 (on NIM master)

Enter 'smitty nim_mac_op'
select nimclientname02
select 'reset'
change 'Deallocate ..' and 'Force' to 'yes'
press <enter> twice

2)
Unexport filesystems from NIM master
Note: no NIM operations should be running!

issue 'showmount -e'
issue 'exportfs -u [filesystem]' for EACH filesystem that shows up

This should do the trick.

btw. Why do you try to construct a SPOT from a newly to create mksysb?
Don't you have an existing mksysb image to create the SPOT from?
Not that this would make a difference in the resulting SPOT, I'm just curious.

Good luck!

Hi woolmilkporji
good morning nice to meet you again.
I already have nimclientname02.mksysb on nim master. But I don't have spot and lppsource for this mksysb. So I tried to create spot for existing this mksysb  by doing following  ways
smitty nim ->Configure the NIM environment -> Advanced configuration ->Create Basic Installation Resources -> Create a New SPOT only->Select a server for the resources(selected nimclientname02) ->Create a spot  ->Input device for Installation Images  (selected nimclientname02.mksysb) and SPOT name (selected nimclientname02_feb11_spot)  SPOT directory was  /export/spot  ( and I changed it to /export/nimclientname02_spot) and continued . I was end up with above error message . do we have any separate procedure to create SPOT from existing mksysb ? the above is correct or wrong ?

rammaghentharji,
one obvious thing in your setup is "Select a server for the resources". This has to be your NIM master and not the client, as you want to create the SPOT on the master (regardless which client's mksysb you want to process) .
The other settings seem to be correct.
However, there is an easier way to get it done -
smitty nim -> Perform NIM Administration... -> Manage Resources -> Define a Resource -> (select spot) -> (fill in the values, Server of Resources = master, Source of Install Images=your mksysb)
This version does not try to create its own filesystem for the SPOT. Results should be the same, however.
In either way, if  'Server for Resources' is NIM master, there is no need for NFS mounts.
But ... these should work, too. Did you do the 'reset' and 'exportfs -u' as I suggested?
Or is the machine in question (nimclientname02) the box with the missing root account? In this case, errors were normal, as only root can do NFS mounts.

Conclusion - retry with 'Server for Resources'  set to 'master'
