Is there any way to stop an HP LaserJet P2055 detecting the type of paper thus slowing down after the first page?

We have an HP LaserJet P2055 and we are printing information onto several hundred pre-printed flyers which we would like to do on a regaulr basis.
Problem: After the first page of printing (which comes out very fast) the printer audibly changes down a gear, and subsequent pages come out at a rate of approx. 5 pages per minute. We have had it running at 33 ppm on standard copier paper, but it refuses to print on pre-printed flyers at this rate. It is almost like the printer is detecting the type of paper, and then slowing down.
Is there anything that can be done to turn it up a notch?
