Proximity printing with Citrix Presentation Server 4.5

I have two floors within my company building.  Each floor has a different IP range.
I installed one printer on each floor for my thin client users to access.  I only want users on the ground floor to access the printer which is on their floor and users on the 1st floor to access theirs.

Each of my clients are thin clients by the way, running Windows CE using the web interface on Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 to access applications.

OK, my print server is on a different server to the Presentation Server but in the same domain.  I imported both printers from this server onto my Presentation Server.  The presentation server could see these printers along with their drivers.  I then set a policy with so that the printer on the ground floor could only be seen by users in a particular IP range and did the same for the 1st floor.  Unfortunately none of my users can see anything.

I then cleared all my policies apart from one, which was so that users on the ground floor could see their printer, but they still cannot.  I have nothing else within the policy configured apart from the session printer policy.

I have not configured anything with AD which may conflict.

Has anybody got any ideas?

Describe the Citrix Policies you created in detail.

Sorry for my late reply.  I have made a short PowerPoint presentation which I hope explains everything.  You will need to change the file extension from ".zip" to ".ppt".

By the way Carl, thanks for all your help with this and my other Citrix questions.  You have been great.

having to redo my lab since my copies of server 2008 timed out on me.  Had to redo their product keys which caused something to happen to my data store.  So I am fixing all that and should be able to test your issue within an hour.

    Well it works for me.

I created two Citrix printing policies.  The first I called "mac" for my mac client and the other "pc" for my pc client.

On my XenApp server I installed two printers and shared them.  One was shared as mac and the other pc.

In the mac policy I add a session printer using the mac printer and set it to change the default printer to the mac printer.

In the pc policy I add a session printer using the pc printer and set it to change the default printer to the pc printer.

The mac policy was then applied to the IP address of my mac client and the other to the ip address of my pc client.

I then connected to the WI from my pc and logged in as the pc user and started the Notepad published app.  I entered a couple of characters and clicked File | print and my default printer was the PC printer.

I then coneccted to the WI from my mac (using FF3)  and logged in as the mac user and started the Paint published app.  I sprayed some paint on the canvas and clicked File | Print and my default printer was the MAC printer.

Both printed to my lab printer just fine.

Thanks for your help and confirmation that it works.  It must be something to do with my O/S I guess.  I am now going to dowinload Server 2008 from MSDN and a copy of XenApp and give it a go.

    Fingers crossed it will work.
