We have a web .net program with built in reporting that presents data to users in an html format and then they can export the report to Excel. When a report is very large we'd like to skip the html step and just allow them to save the report to their desktop. Maybe there is a program out there where they can do this. Would be nice if there was a .net component we could add to our program.

What i understand is you want to ftp a excel sheet to client's computer.
I guess the below link will help you to write a program that can ftp a file to some other machine

Using ftp will require some permissions on the client's computer

lame answer, really didn't read the question very closely or ask questions before it was answered.
