Acrobat Pro CS3 - very slow all of a sudden

What used to be essentially instantaneous, is taking 45-60 seconds (and more) to open a PDF file
in the full version of Acrobat.
And similarly for PDFs from the web opened in a browser

i have a dual processor, so 100% of each processor is noted as 50% of the machine...
Acrobat.exe   40%
Acroinfo.exe 40%

any idea what caused this and what can be done?

XP Pro 32-bit processor   4G memory

thanks

Do you have any offline or disconnected printers? If so, remove any offline or old/duplicate references to networked printers....then try opening a pdf again.

If that isn't the case, have you installed any new software recently?

It depends on the apps. What have you installed?
