ACT 5.0 application has stopped working

I have a pc running Vista Business edition. ACT! 2000 has been installed and running for over a year now. Starting yesterday (Tuesday), ACT!2000 no longer works and the reported erro is "ACT 5.0 application has stopped working."  The error message also states "a problem caused the program to stop wokring correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Re-installing over the existing installation changed nothing and gets me the same error.

The application event log reports Event ID# 1000:
Faulting application act.exe, version, time stamp 0x37af9221, faulting module act.exe, version, time stamp 0x37af9221, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0020f0ba, process id 0x62c, application start time 0x01c98cb4c7290d00.

Most likely one of the Vista updates killed it... ACT! 5.0 was never designed to support Windows Vista.

You could try uninstalling it AND deleting the files in the folder "c:\program files\act" (don't delete the subfolders). Then try re-installing

Hi,. I did try a system restore back one week in time before the first post. The system restore completed but did not resolve the issue.

I did remove the software vai add/remove programs wizard and then re-installed the software. IT works just fine now.
