I'm writing an app now standing at about 60,000 lines of code using Delphi 7. I'm using DevEx components on most of the forms (which I know are occasionally quirky).

Now every time after about the 2nd or 3rd Run F9, I get a message:
"Acces violation at address **** in module 'BORdbk70.dll"
If I turn off the integrated debugger all is fine.

I've tried reinstalling D7 but get the same error again.

Have you installed all updates on D7? Have you googled the exact AV (with address)?

Yes, googled it and only relevant suggestion was to install updates.

I've downloaded update 7.1 but when I ran that on my other laptop which is an exact copy it knocked out one of my components which I haven't been able to get working so I'm not keen to do the same again on my dev machine. (Will do as a last resort!)

I think it's best to start there then....

Yes, but D7 with current components and debugger has worked fine for 18 months. I think D7.1 has something in there which isn't compatible with all components - added, changed declaration or whatever.

What do you reckon to just copying the debugger part from the 7.1 updated machine? Not sure if there are registry bits associated that I'd need to edit.

That's what I expect as well, and it's probably quite easy to fix.

Not sure, my gut feeling is that you'll probably make the mayhem just worse...

Can you reproduce this faulty behavior with an application which does not use these 'incompatible' components?

Oh well, I've gone for it and installed the D7.1 update. I've removed the incompatible component from the project just for the moment as there was only one instance of it (will have to sort later).

Yep, and it all works fine with the debugger switched on.

Many thanks.

Good to hear it solved it (you can waste loads of time on things like this...)

Come back here if you need help with the component.

One question: why grade B?

I'm getting the same thing happening in Delphi 7.1 intermittently when I invoke a TBrowseURL action (it is triggered by a TMenuItem click and the action simply loads a webpage). Strange as it's intermittent. What I get is an access violation in module BORdbk70.dll.

If  I switch off Integrated debugging it seems to go away (I've tested it about 5 times since doing that and no AV has happened since)

I'm running Delphi 7.1 on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro SP1 machine.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks Esot
