IBM R51 Restarting as soon as it goes into windows

Hello,
We have a IBM R51 (1829-K6G) Laptop that we have installed windows XP professional on to with service pack 3 and all the latest updates, we also  had to replace the Intel wireless card that was in it as the one that was in it did not work.

But now it randomly restarts in windows i went into the BIOS and reset everything to defaults which produced a 1802 error after the ibm logo "Unknown mini-pci device in laptop" i removed the error with the aid of a program that i found on goggle NO-1802

Every time that laptop boots into windows about 2 minutes into using, It automatically restarts, we have tried replacing the memory and Hard disk drive with no joy and that laptop is not heating up so we dont think its overheating.

Can anyone help?

Have you Disabled the auto start feature in order to see if a BSOD occurs.

If the mini pci card is causing an error, have you removed the new  Intel wireless card and tried running without it. The problem may not be the card itself but the slot that it installs in.( might be the problem with the old card also)

Hi ,
I have done as you said and turned off the auto restart in the control panel and it didn't restart for about 3 hours

I have unplugged the power supply and power lead and moved the laptop to another desk and now it is restarts as soon as it gets into windows again

I have tried reinstalling the operating system but it restarts during the installation any thoughts as to what else it could be or is there anything else I can do

If no BSOD stays on the screen when the auto restart is disabled, then there is a chance there is an issue with the power management program.(Standby, Hibernation)
or the power regulation on the motherboard itself.
Have you removed the new wireless card you installed, and tried it ?

I assume this is a retail version of XP and not an IBM cd. You may also be running into problems with drivers if this is the case.
You can download and install the drivers for this model here(even if XP has generic drivers already installed, the IBM drivers would be better)

This unit has the latest drivers and if i try and boot into the BIOS and set it to default settings it will boot up with the 1802 internal wireless card error,
We have also tried another R51 and it has the same restarting fault
