How to Call Paint Event in C# using a "Smart Device" VS 2008 Project Under Windows CE 5.0

Hi,
I have a simple application that draws colored lines and rectangles on the
main application form based on the receipt, or no receipt of status data.
I call the Refresh(); event to force a screen repaint and it works GREAT
when running Visual Studio 2008 under Windows XP.
However, the same application running as a "Smart Device" project with
Windows CE 5.0 does not call the paint event as a result of the Refresh()
call.
Any ideas on how to force the paint event for ths project??
The event method is:
private myMainForm_Paint( object sender, PaintEventArgs e)
{
     // I make calls here to draw different colored lines and
    // rectangles here.
}
A method that I could call that calls the above EVENT method would be best.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.  THANKS VERY MUCH.
