Asp.Net 3.5 Login Controls with Validation Controls?

Is it possible to use 3.5 login control (wizard) with the validation controls?
If so how?
For example, on the registration I tried to add a validation control to UserName and set the "control to validate" to UserName but I received an error stating it can't find UserName
