Outgoing mail stuck in queue with "the remote server did not respond to a connection attempt"

I have a production and DR site. The DR site is using Double-Take to replicate the server.
During testing at the DR site with a replica of the server, no Emails can be sent outside.
Internal mail is fine.
DNS is working fine.
telnet is not working well ( but it is not working well on the production server either ), although from other machines it appears OK.
DNSreports OK.
Router is not forwarding port 25 for incoming at the DR site, but this has never affected outgoing mail.
Production site is fine.

MX records exist for both sites with reverse PTR.
Since the DR site is the same AD and everything as the production site, I am at a loss to explain the behavior.

I have been reading about similar issues for 3 days, and still do not see a solution.

Any help appreciated

You said... "telnet is not working well " what does that mean ? arent you able to telnet to any domain MX?

SysExpert,
MX has nothing to do with Sending mails Out !
do this and let me know the results :
Though you said DNS WORKS FINE :
1) nslookup ..........what server do u see? local dns server or external?
2) nslookup
set q=mx
remotedomain.com

is this resolving and finding out the MX ?
3) do telnet MX / IP 25
what banner do you get.....?
4) go to www.mxtoolbox.com...... put in your ip and see if its blacklisted.. it wil also tell you if you have PTR....

lemme know the results...

nslookup is fine

SInce My production mail is working fine, I do not think I am blacklisted, and after checking, both server IPs are fine.

MX may have issues with reverse PTR, so mail is not accespted.

Not sure what error will ocur, bit it looks OK.

SInce production works, why not the DR site ?

Thanks !

lakshmidurga : I have already seen those, and My understanding is that increasing the log level in my case will not help, once it has reached this stage in the queue, although I can try tomorrow.

I fond out that it was indeed out ISP in the end.
Thanks !
