Hi

I get this error many times in my eventlog:

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      Perflib
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      1023
Date:            13-02-2009
Time:            09:15:08
User:            N/A
Computer:      BEROTECHSRV01
Description:
Windows cannot load extensible counter DLL InoRT, the first DWORD in data section is the Windows error code.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: 7e 00 00 00               ~...

I can see it has something to do with the perfmon application. What do I do to make this error stop? And what exactly is the reason to this error?

OS: Windows SBS 2003 R2

SBS has an extensive performance monitor that constantly monitors services that you have checked or ones checked by default.

If anyone of these monitored services stops (in your case "InoRT") then you will get this error.

The thing you can do is to turn of monitoring of this service (Monitoring &
Reporting-> Change Alert Notifications-> Performance Monitoring)
OR
You can try to find the service and check if it is really up and running

In computer management, at the services tab i do not have any service installed with the name "InoRT" how can that be possible?

regards.

.. And in alert notifications at the services tab there is no "InoRT" either.
Commented:
InoRT could be a service belonging to a virusscanner or firewall

The question is more if it is running as it should be, or if an unsuccessful uninstall has created a rouge service that fills upp your log.

Does Computer Associates International ring a bell?
Searching for InoRT and that name comes up
