Hello intelogent,

Outlook allows you to schedule Send/Recieve while you are working offline. Outlook temporarily goes online to check for new mail

Hope this helps!

so even though it is not running,,, it will wake up , connect and come to life, then go back to sleep?
is that the deal?

Yes, that is the idea.  Not sleep, but offline.
