Moving Dell PE 1950 sever to other data center

I need to move our old webserver from the UK to Ireland (It's still active a live).
The SQL server is shared at the hosting company in the UK, and I will only have a backup of the DB
Is it a complicated procedure to get things up and running with an other shared SQL server with our new hosting company?

And are there other things to look out for be fore I start moving the server?

PowerEdge 1950
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Server 2003, Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
FileZilla Server
Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0
XStandard Web Services

Thanx in advance

Backup and restore is pretty common.

How many apps on your server?  You will need to point all of the applications to the new DB name in Ireland's datacenter.

Besides that just update external DNS and you should be good to go.

Do you think it's possible to install SQL server express on the server and then migrate the data?

you CAN . . . but note that you have a 4GB limit on a DB.  Not sure your database size.  Ireland doesn't have a shared DB server?

Also if UK was a 2005 Enterprise Edition I'm not sure if you can restore to the express . . . but worth a shot, you can always uninstall.

We are going to move to PHP and MySql and a complete new website same for the server needs to be suited for video streaming and so on. This is almost ready 4 weeks to go but I dont want to have double costs so our new provider offered the hosting of our old web server for free but they have no shared Sql DB server. There is always something isnt it... anyway thanx for the quick responses
