Do I need to demote a Windows 2003 Standard backup domain controller before running a system repair?

Hello Experts:

I need to run a system repair on a Windows 2003 Standard Domain Controller that is a backup controller.  Do I need to demote the controller before I run a system repair on the server?

    If you are sure this DC doesn't hold any FSMO roles, you don't need to demote.

    Are you talking about a repair install?  I do not think so, however, if the reason for a repair install is because it is screwing your AD, then you should demote it first.
