I'm building a straightforward website for my buddy.  He wants me to include a default page and several "news" pages on which he'll modify the text regularly.  (The page layout will remain static.)  I want to give him a construct where he can update the site with no effort on my part.  I'm looking for a simple construct but also one that makes updating the site as easy as possible.

XML with XSLT and CSS?
I did some fancy stuff with XML and the PHP Expat Parser a few months ago, but that seems like overkill.
Something else?
