Can anyone tell/confirm the CPU Socket type on Emachines T6520 (released in 2005) please.

A bunch of contradicting debates in various online forums.

I am thinking of upgrading this machine to AMD Dual Core, and need to make sure I order the right processor.

According to this, it has an Athlon64 3400+ cpu.  From AMD's website, there are 5 variants of the Athlon64 3400+, all of them socket 754:  Socket 754 does not support the dual core X2 processors.
