How do I restore email folders of an exchange 2003 SBS 2003 mailbox

One of my lovely users decided to move folders (drag and drop) from her mailbox to the shared network drive. In doing so, she has "cleaned" up her mailbox and reduced space used and she can still read her messages but the attachments are no longer readable. The problem is that she needs the attachments back.

I checked the Arcserve backup software and the exchange database was not being backed up. Fixed that for future reference,

I do have Backup Exec System Recovery running with a 7 day retention period, so I do have a copy of the exchange database files although I am not sure how the recovery is done or even if they can be used.

So I have: the exmerge tool, a recovery group created, a copy of the exchange DB files

How do I get a copy of the user's mailbox back or how can I recover the missing folders?

    Accepted Solution

if you can mount the database in the recovery storage group, then you can se the recover mailbox option to recover the person's mailbox.

Or you can use exmerge to extract to pst file

however, if the database won't mout in the recovery group, you may have to replay your logs.
