Can I migrate a Microsoft / IIS FTP site ?
I need to migrate a FTP site from one Microsoft '03 server to another '03 server.
It should be simple enough to set up IIS and copy the directory(s), but I have about 40 accounts with specific privileges to the directories under the FTP root. Is there any way that I can move all those directory access privileges, virtual directories, and user accounts to the new machine w/o the labor of recreating it all manually ?
Thanks

Down-loaded the tool, I will be able to look more at it on Monday.
No, the two servers are not part of the same domain.

that makes things VERY difficult then. take a look at robocopy which you can use to try to maintain ntfs ACLs, but you would probably first need to replicate all the relevant users to the destination server first.
I'm not confident that it will work, and so you probably need to consider whether it is worth the effort of even attempting it.
Cheers.

Would it be possible to backup the accounts on one system and restore them on the other ?
Then when RoboCopy ran it could copy the rights and the SID would be correct ?

Thanks for the help.
As for ntfs permissions, if the source and destination server are members of the same domain, then the permissions should be preserved with just a normal copy.
Cheers.
