Computer wont start

I tried to turn my pc on and received the following message:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt system32\drivers\ntfs.sys

I tried inserting the original windows cd and rebooted. The system started loading the files from the CD and I eventualy received the error The file NTFS.sys is corrupted

If someone could provide some assistance I would be very gratefull.

Thanks

Do a repair using your original CD. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822800

I would suggest doing a windows installation repair.
1. boot from your windows xp CD
2. press F8 in the Windows XP Licensing Agreement,

3. You can see your current installation of Windows XP in a list, make sure it is selected, and press R to start repairing that installation.

if the problem comes back again, then it could be that your hard disk is having problems or your computer is infected with a virus.

hope it solves your problem

If nothing else works and your computer has a floppy disk drive you need to download the windows xp setup floppy discs and you might also need to download fdisk to wipe your hdd if you cannot repair or reinstall windows using the xp floppy setup discs. http://www.bootdisk.com
