Windows Server 2008 x64 (Service Pack 1)
Hyper-V Manager 6.0.6001.18016 (I am not sure if this is the same as the Hyper-V version or just the manager))

Have set up a new Virtual Machine and installed a fresh installation of Windows XP Pro x86

Virtualk machine is not capturing the mouse.

I have tried installing integration services but get an error saying

"An error has occurred: The specified program requires a newer version of Windows"

How can I get:

a) the mouse to be captured by the VM session?
b) the integration services installed

A quick google search has so far only turned up problems in betas and release candidates but I should be running a full release version of Hyper-V now.

Hello Woodster,

I think that the newer version of Windows that they are looking for is the service pack on Windows XP (requires SP3). Do you have the same issue if you install SP3 and try to run the Integration Components?
(If you have issues downloading SP3, you can setup a legacy network adapter which does not require the intgration components to run - then you can run the SP3 update from WIndows Update.)
