I need to buy a dual monitor capable PCI-E video card for dirt cheap. Less than 100 bucks.

I have found plenty of cards that fit that requirement but am dont know much about pci-e vs pci-e 2.0

The computer I am working with is an HP compac dc7600 with a PCI-express card.  Fairly old so I dont know if it is pci-e 2.0.  Will a 2.0 PCI-express card work in this  computer if it is not 2.0?

Most, if not all PCIE-2 cards will work in a PCIE slot meant for video. I had that same question about a card that I wanted for one of my kids' machines.  It had a mobo that was about a year old and only supported PCIE.  I was told by a number of individuals on the New Egg forums that PCIE-2 cards would work in that slot just fine.  I purchase an HD4670 card that was PCIE2 and put it in and it has worked just fine.
