Hi There,

I am building a new server around a Supermicro X7QC3 mainboard running 2 x Intel Xeon E7420, Socket FC-PGA6, 2.13GHz, FSB 1066MHz, quad-core processors.

The motherboard manual states: 24 240-pin DIMM sockets with support up to 192 GB ECC FBD (Fully Buffered) DDR2 667/533 Memory

Which memory will be the fastest ?

    LVL 32

    Accepted Solution

The manual for this motherboard states
"The MCH chipset connects up to 32 Fully Buffered DIMM 2 modules, providing
    a total memory bandwidth of up to 25.5 GB/s (for 533) and 32 GB/s (for 667),
capable of addressing up to 512 GB of memory"

The 667 ram would be faster.

Here is the manual manual, page 1-9 is where the excerpt is taken.
