Office Communicator 2007, Manual Configuration Disabled

I have just upgraded Office Communicator client from v 2005 to v 2007.  The client stopped working.  The error message is something like "The server is temporarily unavailable..."  I tried to manual configure the connection.  But the fields were blank and disabled.  Is there a way to enable those fields so I can try to manually enter the server URLs?  If the server is still 2005 version, is it worthy of trying?

sounds like you have a group policy using the communicator 2005 adm template applied....
remove it or upgrade it to the 2007 template and you should be fine.

I think there is a group policy on it.  But how can I remove the admin template or upgrade it to 2007 template?  Where are those templates?

HayesJupeCommented:
ok.So open GPMC, find the appropriate GPO (use the settings tab to scan if your not sure which one it is)
Open the appropriate GPO, click on "administraive ttemplates" rightl click then "add/remove templates"
Remove the existing template, add the 2007 template from the communicator 2007 media under the support folder.

I did not work with GPMC console before.  I have installed in my XP.  Still can not make sense of what you said.  Any more explanation?

In GPMC, the first level node is Forest.  The next level is Domain, Sites, GP modeling and GP results.  I did not see any Setting tab anywhere to initiate scanning.

HayesJupeCommented:
oh ok. So expand the nodes until you see "group policy objects"... then highlight one of the GPO's. In the right hand pane you will see a screen with a couple of tabs come up.... one of which is "settings" which will summarise the GPO's contents for you.

I found admin template in Domains >> a specific domain >> GP Objects >> LCS Defaults.  But right click does not show anything like "add/remove template".

sorry mate, i cant help you find where your policy is remotely, your just going to have to look through each policy.... just a tip... look for the settings first, not the template.
