Installing Virusscan Enterprise 8.7 to Windows 2003 Server

I am trying to install McAfee Virusscan 8.7i onto a new Windows 2003 Server Installation on a Dell Poweredge 1600SC.  When it gets to the starting services section, it hangs and tells me it can't start services and make sure I have admin privileges.  Anyone else run into this?  I tried an upgrade on another Windows 2003 Server from  8.5 to 8.7 and it does the same thing.

Are you installing via ePolicy Orchestrator or standalone? Framework services installed or no? Did it properly register the services but they just wont start?

Standalone.  It seemed to have properly registered servives before it got to the starting services part.

I reran it and Framework services did install.
Check to make sure all the McAfee services are using the Local System account for logon... What kind of events are you seeing when the services fail to start?
If you dont get it running try an manually uninstall v8.5 by following these instructions:

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB50602

Reboot and then install the framework/agent package with (your filename may differ):

FramePkg_UPD.exe /install=updater

Then try running the 8.7 installer.

I am doing a clean install so 8.5 isn't there.  Should I try installing the framework/agent package first using FramePkg_UPD.exe /install=updater
from a command prompt?

Hard to look at the servives because it does an install rollback when the services fail to install.

I'm installing alll updates before I try again.
Yes, install the agent/framework package from the command prompt first.

Event viewer or McAfee installer log errors?

32 bit basic volume
Are you installing from an .msi that is local, or over a network or UNC path?
Can you provide just a bit more detail of the exact error, including (if possible) any logged events from the event viewer or installation logs?

Error 1920.  McShield failed to start.  Make sure you have sufficient privileges.

I tried to change parameters.  "Access Denied"

this is the correct link that worked for me.

it's a dynamic vs basic disk issue.
