Automaticly Deep Etch a photograph

I have a customer asking me if I can find a piece of software, be it a Photoshop plugin, or stand-alone; to perform automatic deep etching.  Her web site designer tells her that there is such a thing, so now I have to find it.

If no such thing exists, can someone please give me a URL to a simple Photoshop guide the customer could follow.

Can you provide an example of what your customer is talking about? Without something to see, it makes it sort of hard to imagine what effect they are looking for...

All deep etching is, is removing the background from an image.
You're looking for a plugin to make an automatic selection? Or a tutorial on background removal?

Does the etch need to be saved for print?

What - like that thread we were just in? Never heard it called that! I was thinking back to my college days when we did etching in printmaking...

Yeah, pretty much the same thing. Sometimes printers will want the clipping path in addition to the image.

In regards to the question here; I don't know of a software to automatically remove a background or generate a clipping path. Maybe someone else has something...

Tutorials on the other hand...
