Hi,

A client of mine is insisting that I supply an animated banner in GIF format which contains the HTML link. I do not believe this is possible as images have no way of containing action script (as far as I know).

I already know that the normal way is to supply a GIF then whoever puts the web page together will code the link directly into the HTML file.

Can someone just confirm that there is no way to contain a link within the actual GIF itself?

many thanks in advance

I am not aware of a way to embed the URL with an image in the way described. It is added in the call string of the HTML page code as you mentioned. The other alternative is using a flash object instead of an animated GIF as Flash objects can contain embeded code.

Thanks for your quick reply, I agree, the best way is to supply an SWF file.
I just wanted to be certain before I went back to them with this.
Ok rtzan, how bout them points? =)
Why not create a div with the image on top, and a scrolling marquee below that is the width of the image above? Each text element in the marqee can be a different link.

Text can even be pulled from a DB making updates easier.
