Vaio z series WWAN 3g HSDPA Device not Found

Hi,

I have just recieved my Vaio Z21ZN (very nice). The problem is that I cant get the WWAN to work. I want to use my Vodafone SIM which I have been using with an Option PCMCIA card. I have inserted this (the sim card) into the slot behind the battery. Sony bundle an app called Globetrotter Connect which I have tried to use to open a connection, however this app says "no device found". I am unable to find any evidence of any WWAN device in the Device Manager, but I dont know what it would be called. Vodafone Connect software only looks for USB dongle, express card or PCMCIA.
I have tried vaio-link for assistance and I have spoken to two people who didnt seem to know a lot about computers... sorry it's the truth.
I have switched the hardware switch on the front of the machine to "on" also i have switched WWAN on in the VAIO smart network app.

PLease help
Thanks
Eric

Hi Rindi,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you, I was was waiting for Sony to get back to me. The device does not appear in Device Manager and this machine definitely should have a SIM reader, Sony say it should be under the modem tag and be called GlobeTrotter or 3G modem. I think there maybe an internal problem somewhere in the laptop.
