Samsung ML-2510 unable to install "the Printer name is invalid" error

We are trying to install this printer locally on an xp sp3 machine running home edition.

If we install with the install cd we get a error during installation.

If we install the printer via the plug and pray, we get this error mentioned above. It looks like the installation finishs but we are graced with this colorful and extremely not helpful error message.

The printer does not appear in the control panel when done installing.

We have installed this same printer on a adjacent xp machine and we had no problems .

Also we tried to connect to the printer from the "trouble" machine and it is also unable to connect over the network to this printer.

The printer seems to install properly and gives no indication of a failure, expect when you try to print a test page. The computer then gives a blue screen of death, with the following message:

Problem in Win32K.sys

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Adress BF905E94 base at BF800000, DateStamp 48CE513A

I hope this will provide you guys with enough information. please write back soon!

Thanks,
Ghost

this can be due to bad ram - test with memtest 86+ froom www.memtest.org
also, you can try running a repair install : http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
the proper procedure for an usb device is :
disconnect the device
install software
connect device when asked for

if you already installed the software - uninstall it first !
