How can I get my Microtek Scanmaker III SCSI scanner to work on Vista x64

Does anyone know how to get a Microtek Scanmaker III SCSI scanner to work on Vista x64 ? I have an Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card. The scanner was working perfectly fine on Windows XP 32bit and Vista 32bit on the exact same hardware. I just installed Vista x64 on the computer and the only thing that I cannot get to work is my scanner.

I have tried various instances of Scanwizard but none of them recognizes the SCSI card (I only have "Image still device" in the list for Scanner Check). The SCSI card is seen in Vista64 by device manager (no red X or yellow check mark) using the 7800 emulation driver.

Of course, getting a more recent scanner could be an option, but I am trying to avoid to spend $500+ right now on this (it's a legal-sized scanner, hard to find and/or expansive).

Thanks

ASKER

I downloaded the file along with yet another more recent version 4.72, and the setup file tells me the platform I have is not the right one for this program. I used winzip to extract the files manually and ran the install.bat with XP64 parameter. It installed the files, but it still does not recognize the scanner. ASPICHK also finds nothing: no version are listed beside all 4 of the dll it checks for, even though the DLLs are there.
sorry for dealy in replying. have you solved this?
Nope. See my previous comment; that is where I am sitting now.
I did buy another scanner, but I have not connected it yet.
why not contact microtek support
Microtek USA no longer exists for scanners.
