Hello,

I have an environment with two Domain Controllers running at a 2003 Forest/Domain Level.

All the workstations (XP) do not pick up the policy after I've made changes.  The Default Policy is enforced.

If I do Gpupdate /force it will then take the changes.

How long have you waited? I think that the default update frequency is 22 hours. I'd be concerned if they didnt pull down the changes in a couple of days

Have they been bounced since? An update should certainly take place upon restart. You can also tweak the refresh interval

Comp. Config > Admin Templates > System > Group Poicy > GP Refresh interval for computers

Thanks I've added a variable to the refresh.  But, if they aren't picking it up they won't get the new refresh setting.

Other than putting a script in the login.bat that carries out a gpupdate /force /logoff on 1 run only, what choice do I have?

Hmm.. not too many I don't think. I'm assuming you have a lot of clients that you don't want to go around rebooting?

The only thing that I can think of is to maybe use psexec to remotely execute the gpupdate on all of your clients.

PS>> notice:
Usage: psexec [\\computer[,computer2[,...]
so you only have to issue the command a few times, executing it on many workstations at once
