Local or Centralised configuration for Citrix Web Interface?

Hi

We are running a PS 4.5 farm on Windows 2003.

We just built one Web Interface server and created the site using local site configuration. According to the manual, this means that site information is held on the local server only.

There was also the option for Centralised Configuration of the Web Interface where, apparently, the config is held on a remote server running Presentation Server.

I was wondering what people's opinions were about the two? And is it straightforward to change between the two?

Also, the manual states that that the centralised configuration source should typically be the server running the Citrix XML service...what does this actually mean? How can I find out which server this is and what is the relevance?

Many thanks in advance

The Centralized Configuration doesn't always work right and is a support problem for Citrix.  Because of those issues, that feature was removed from XenApp 5 for Server 2008.  If you use that feature and plan to upgrade to XA5 for 08, then you will have to undo it.  So just skip it and save yourself the aggrevation.

Thanks Carl.

So - just to confirm - does using the Local Config mean that if I want to view the configuration of a Web Interface site via Access Manager, I have to go to the Access Manager on the Web Interface server? The site won't be displayed on the Access Manager of any other PS server?

Also, what are your thoughts to the below;

"Also, the manual states that that the centralised configuration source should typically be the server running the Citrix XML service...what does this actually mean? How can I find out which server this is and what is the relevance of the XML service" [edited]

I actually thought the XML service ran on all Citrix PS servers?
