Blackberry Enterprise Software has stopped working!!!! Please help!!!

Our BES (Blackberry Professional Software) just stopped working this morning, ie no devices can contact the server. We have Exchange 2003 Enterprise.

These are the errors we are getting in the Application Event Log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent BES01 Agent 1
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10275
Date: 18/02/2009
Time: 1:42:39 PM
User: N/A
Computer: BES01
Description:
Failed to retrieve the Server DN, shutting down

Computer: BES01
Description:
BlackBerry Messaging Agent BES01 Agent 1 failed to start. Error code 5305

I have reinstalled Exchange 2003 Enterprise System Manager plus ESM SP2 and rebooted - still no luck.

Stopping and starting the services manually after the server has been restarted gives the same errors.

I think the issue is this - when I click on on Edit Mapi Profile, I get the following error:

"Invalid properties in MsgSvcTable (00000000)"

I came across a Blackberry article http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04161

Under KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\BlackBerryServer, I don't have a MAPI Profile value to export or delete.

Please help!!

Slightly related thread, page 2 has your error:

http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/general-bes-discussion/1645-weird-situation-my-bes.html

Sounds like you need to check that your MAPI profile is there. If not, what happens when you create one?

Other link to look through with other recommendations based on your event errors:

Can I recreate the MAPI profile without reinstalling BES?

Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles, can I delete the BlackberryManager and BlackberryServer?  (See attached screenshot)  Are these the MAPI profiles?

Go to Start -> Program Files -> Blackberry Professional (or Enterprise) Server -> Edit Mapi Profile. Run as the BES service account. If you don't have anything in there, then set it up using the BES service account.

You can also ensure that the rest of your BES is working correctly by going into the Blackberry Server Configuration program. This allows you to configure your DB, etc.

Start there.

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

But the issue is when I click on Edit Mapi Profile, I get the error:

Invalid properties in MsgSvcTable (00000000)

From your last article, I just saw that Outlook was installed - I have removed it, rebooted, installed ESM and ESM SP2, and rebooted again.

Still no connection to devices and still same error for Edit Mapi Profile!

Everything else passes tests in the Server Config.

Should I just reinstall BES?
