Device Associated but Not Authenticated to a wireless network

Medium Priority
Last Modified: 2013-11-12
I have a Symbol MC9090 device. I am trying to connect to a wireless network. The router being used is a Cisco Aironet 1242. The network has Open Authentication and WPA-2 AES Encrytion. The device is capable of WPA2-AES as the appropriate version of Fusion Radio utility. (And the connectivity has been tested)

My issue is when I set up my device, the device is Associating to the network, but is not Authenticating, and I cannot see why this would be the case, as it is set to Open Authentication. My only thought is maybe that the device is being assigned a static IP, so there may be a problem with this?

Any clues?

Watch Question

Which authentication method are you using? Open or WPA2? Can you post the portion of the config that includes the auth / encrypt for the SSID on the 1242?

The network has WPA2 encrytion. The reason I referneced both is that on the device, it asks for an Authentication, then an encryption method.
Is the goal to set up individual accounts / certificates for the handhelds or use a preshared key(PSK) for authentication? The WPA2 spec calls out one or the other be used for authentication. You can use AES encryption for either. Let me know which you would like to do and I can send you a sample config for your access point or if you want to post your SSID config from your access point minus passwords, I can modify that.
Apologies for the recent lack of comms, had some connection issues here. The issue was resolved by applying an OS update to the device. There was a known issue with the FusionRadio utility about connecting to Cisco network. I updated to Version 2.55 of FusionRadio for future reference.
