I'm doing a repair install on a heavily malware infected machine. That is a formerly heavily infected machine. :)
When going through the install, everything is fine until it starts installing devices. It installs the first few ok after asking me where the driver files are located. Then it goes through the "regional settings" wizard. After that it prompts with the famous dialog box that says this:
"The software you are installing for this hardware:
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.
Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.
Do you want to continue installing the software for this hardware?
Yes No "
Notice that the "this hardware: ... has not passed" is blank. Clicking on either "Yes" or "No" causes the dialog box to disappear for a couple of seconds and then immediately reappear. We've tried clicking "Yes" and "No" many times with no success. Rebooting ends up with the exact same result.
Is there a way I can bypass this?
