What is best to set as the default gateway - core switch or firewall?

For the servers in a data center, which is better?  To have the default gateway set to the core switch or the firewall?  With a high powered switch we are thinking that perhaps the better optino would be to set it to the switch so all local traffic will avoid being sent to the firewall.

    Yes, the switch.  The Firewall is not great at routing between subnets on the inside.  The L3 switch is built for this.  Route all internal traffic via the switch and only send traffic to the Firewall when going outside the network.
