How to add a second exchange server to the Blackberry Server

I currently have my Blackberry server pulling from the main exchange server. However, I am getting ready to move my BB users over to the new exchange server and I wanted to know how to add the new exchange server to the BB server. So that the BB server pulls from both exchanger servers.

I want to ensure that regardless which exchange server my users are on they are still getting emails on there BB (blackberry).

Blackberry doesn't care.
As long as the second Exchange server is in the same Exchange org, then it will continue to work. You don't have to do anything to the BES server at all, as it will use Exchange to find the mailboxes.

However if you are moving ALL Blackberry users to the new server then you may want to consider moving the BESADMIN account as well. To do that, stop all of the Blackberry services and then use move mailbox as normal. Once complete, use the Profile tool to correct the location of the account, then restart the services again.

ok I have the BES pointing to exch01 and I have all my BB accounts on exch01. However, I am moving them over to exch02 two at a time over a time period. I want to make sure all users continue to get emails on there BB.

When I moved one of my users over to the new exch02 they stopped getting emails on there BB. I moved them back to exch01 and they were working again fine.

So should I put the BES Admin account on both servers? Also where is the profile tool? On the BES or on the Echnage server
That probably means you haven't setup the permissions correctly for the new server. Nothing to do with the account that is being used.
Ensure that the besadmin account has the same permissions on the new server that it did on the original server?

The profile tool is in the program group for Blackberry on the Blackberry server.

So does that mean I can have the besadmin account on both exchange servers
No - you can't have the besadmin on both servers. It is a mailbox just like any other. However the besadmin account needs the same permissions on both servers.

-M
ok I get what you are saying but I am a bit confussed on how to give the user permissions to both servers. Where and how do I do this?

This is a ll new to me so thank you so much for your patients.

Did you setup the BES originally?
You configure the permissions in the same way as you did for the original setup.

-M
No I di not set it up originally. I am taking over this task for a previous person. So I am a little lost. Yes, I have added all my users now but as far as the initial set up I am lost. So if you don't mind sending directions on how to do this that would be great.

Thank you for all your help
Do I need to install the BES on the second exchange server. Please help me out here. If you can jsut send me some directions on where to get started I probably can get it from there

Thanks
If there is anyone that can send me the directions on addidg the second exchange server permissions to the BES account I would greatly appreciate it. Agian I ma new at doing this and this is the ONLY reason I am asking for help. I have a deadline to meet for tomorrow and I need this info.

Thank you very much I will try this out and then let you know.
Thank you very much everything worked out great.
hello

I know you helped memove the user over to the new exch however I now have the user reporting that they cannot send  or reply to emails but they get emails fine. I re checked all my settings and permissions an all seems right. What else can I check tomake sure the user can sendand repy from the new server.
As before - you need to check that besadmin account has Send As permissions on the account.

-M
It does I re checked everything and as soon as imoved the user backto the other server they are working fine
There is something different with the permissions. That is the only thing it can be.

-M
The issue is that this particular user just started having the issue about 2-3 days agao. The other user startedwith the issue the sunday of daylight saving time. They were both working fine. Now they cannt send or reply
I can't help with time zone based issues as it is something I have avoided. They don't affect me here in the UK so I have ignored all questions on them.
I would suggest that you post a new question if it TZ related and see what others can contribute.
