Our website is at *traveldocumentation*net, our developers have loaded a gmaps API on the homepage which is loading very slow. Its the map that shows in the box at the left corner of the page. Its effecting the overall page load times. This is hosted on a dedicated server and is the only site hosted on that server. The server is running processor: Dual-Core OpteronTM 1216 HE (2 x 2.6 GHZ), RAM: 2GB, HDD: 2 x 250GB and Microsoft Windows Server 2003. The site is done using asp.net and sql.

What can be done by the developers to make this map api and page load faster? Any suggestions appreciated!

What i will suggest is first load a "empty" google map without points. Then call WebService (WebMethod) from the javascript onload event. This webservice should provide the information in a "Json" format from where the javascript will be able to create "points" on the maps directly on client side.

Start there.
