I'm not aware of a tester. If you have the DirectX SDK there are a number of routines that will calculate what cards are capable of from a programming perspective (see Shadermark as an example <a href="http://www.shadermark.com/" rel="ugc">http://www.shadermark.com/<wbr /></a>) . However depending on how many separate makes and models of machine we are talking about it is probably quicker to run dxdiag on a specimen machine from each category to identify the chipset and then do a manual look-up of the card's ability.

Shader Model tester
