Need to Restore single exchange mailbox to pst from backup exec 10d tape

I need to restore an exchange mailbox from a backup exec tape and dont have an exchange server to restore it to . I currently have a windows 2003 server with backup exec installed on it. ive cataloged the tape, found the individual mailbox i need to recover, (not a complete exchange database but individual mailbox backup), but dont know how to get backup exec to restore it to a pst file. is this possible?  Do i have to build a separate exchange box?  is there a 3rd party app that can extract the file from the tape?

Hi,
You can use RSG on same Exchange Server and then use ExMerge to recover.
Please refer: http://www.petri.co.il/restoring-exchange-2003-mailboxes-exchange-2007-exmerge.htm and http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/How-Recovery-Storage-Groups-Work.html
Let me know
Thanks

to restore an individual mailbox (from a mailbox level backup, not DB) you need exchange server with a mailbox on it.
only database level backups can be restored to RSG.

with the mailbox level backup, you can restore to any other user's mailbox too.. not necessary to restore to original mailbox name.

so in case you do not have access to original exchange server
install exchange
restore to administrator's mailbox, then extract to PST.

So ive built a new exchange server sbs standard. Now i want to restore a mailbox from another server on a different domain, same subnet, that has veritas 10d backup on it. once i install the veritas client on the new exchange server, will it automattically create the user and mailbox on the e2k3 server when i restore the mailbox data from tape on the veritas server?

i don't think the restore can automatically create the user and mailbox as this is a different domain.
better option is to just re-direct the restore to a new mailbox you have manually created on this new exchange server.
