How to install monit & configure to monitor server using ICMP

I have Fedora core 8 servers using as a file server. I want to monitor my server using monit. If server downs or network work failure for my file server monit should send e-mail and sms to me. Thsi is my requirement. I am new to this topic.

if you look at this tutorial

it saying clearly how to setup munit

if you goto to 2nd page in
/etc/monit.d/monitrc

look at setalert, it will sent email to root@localhost

you might be able to use your email address in their to sent email

in set set alert root@localhost

add another email address, it should sent to that email address aswell.


i didnot understand what you meant by this
