Can I install Office 2003 basic with office 2003 professional cd?

Hey everyone,

I have a customers computer.  It's a dell and she can't find her cd's.  The computer came with XP and Office 2003 basic edition.  I have the basic key code but don't have a basic install cd.  I have a 2003 professional install cd.  I tried to install using it with the basic key and it wouldn't accept it.  I was wondering if I could install office professional and then downgrade to Office basic by changing the key?  If not, then does anyone know a source to where I can download an office basic install cd in .iso format?  Or, does anyone know where I can get office 2003 trial install download?  I believe that would work with a basic product key upgrade.

Let me know ASAP.  Thanks.

From memory, I don't think it is possible!
The problem with your request is that we would not know if you have a legit licence and therefore probably sceptical on providing any links (if any exist) to download an ISO.

You could give the Pro CD a go, the serial is asked before the installation so worst case scenario, it will fall over and say wrong s/n.

Oh and BTW I also have the Microsoft Office 2007 OPK cd's.  Does anyone know if they would install w/ 2003 basic key or if it would install basic 2003?

If the computer came with Office, then it is an OEM version, and that key will not work with your Office Pro version. Installing and trying to downgrade is dodgy because of the OEM problem. Also your Office 2007 will not install with Office 2003 keys. You probably need to straighten out your various licensing issues, although that may cost you because installation media has been lost. .... T
Alright guys thanks for responding so fast.  I finally found a download striaght from microsoft for Microsoft Office Standard.  I downloaded it and it worked with the key I got from the original Dell install.  The Internet Activation said it had too many activations on the key.  So I used the telephone Activation and everything worked good.  So if anyone needs to find this in the future hopefully Microsoft will keep it on their site.  Here is the Download link.

Thanks again everyone.

Many thanks. I had the same problem (had to rebuild with no media, but had licenses). This worked a treat.
